SUMMARY:Damascus Trout Days
DESCRIPTION:A 3-day trout tournament in Damascus\, VA on Laurel & Beaverdam Creeks. Awards by trout tag lottery\, prizes up to $1000\, limit 200 anglers. \n\n\n\n\nJoin us in Damascus\, Virginia in April for a trout fishing tournament & festival. Trout Days will be held on the portions of Laurel Creek and Beaverdam Creek within town limits and will be limited to 200 registered anglers each. \nRegistration is $75/adult\, $45/youth. Trout Days is a catch-and-release tournament\, single hook\, artificial lures only\, no powerbait or bait of any kind. A current Virginia freshwater fishing license is required and state regulations apply. A stocking is scheduled prior to the event and 200 of the stocked trout will be tagged. The fishing tournament is open from 5:00 PM until dusk on Friday\, from dawn to dusk on Saturday\, and from dawn until noon on Sunday. \nAwards will be determined by a trout tag lottery on Sunday after the tournament. Each trout tag collected equals one entry; the more tagged trout you catch\, the more chances to win! Prizes include cash awards of up to $1\,000 each\, plus a mix of gear\, guided trip\, and other sponsored items. Also included is a separate raffle for all participants on Saturday evening. \nAll Trout Days proceeds are reinvested into our community through a free Kids Fishing Day\, a community creek clean-up in Damascus\, and a fishing pole lending library – helping local families and visitors alike enjoy\, care for\, and connect with our waterways.

DESCRIPTION:The TransVA Grand Depart (mass start) of individual time trials (ITTs) of the TransVirginia route will be held The Saturday before Memorial Day weekend at 06:00 from the Lincoln Memorial in Washington\, DC. Riders are encouraged to tour or race the route at their preference and self-determined challenge level. The TransVirginia Bike Route is a 565-mile mostly-unpaved backcountry cycling route that traverses the state of Virginia from Washington\, DC to Damascus\, VA. The route is unmarked and remote with areas of no mobile phone service. Self-navigation is a critical skill for all riders.
