DESCRIPTION:A 3-day trout tournament in Damascus\, VA on Laurel & Beaverdam Creeks. Awards by trout tag lottery\, prizes up to $1000\, limit 200 anglers. \n\n\n\n\nJoin us in Damascus\, Virginia in April for a trout fishing tournament & festival. Trout Days will be held on the portions of Laurel Creek and Beaverdam Creek within town limits and will be limited to 200 registered anglers each. \nRegistration is $75/adult\, $45/youth. Trout Days is a catch-and-release tournament\, single hook\, artificial lures only\, no powerbait or bait of any kind. A current Virginia freshwater fishing license is required and state regulations apply. A stocking is scheduled prior to the event and 200 of the stocked trout will be tagged. The fishing tournament is open from 5:00 PM until dusk on Friday\, from dawn to dusk on Saturday\, and from dawn until noon on Sunday. \nAwards will be determined by a trout tag lottery on Sunday after the tournament. Each trout tag collected equals one entry; the more tagged trout you catch\, the more chances to win! Prizes include cash awards of up to $1\,000 each\, plus a mix of gear\, guided trip\, and other sponsored items. Also included is a separate raffle for all participants on Saturday evening. \nAll Trout Days proceeds are reinvested into our community through a free Kids Fishing Day\, a community creek clean-up in Damascus\, and a fishing pole lending library – helping local families and visitors alike enjoy\, care for\, and connect with our waterways.

DESCRIPTION:The Appalachian Trail Days Festival is the biggest event of the year in Damascus and the world’s largest celebration of the Appalachian Trail and hiker culture! Each year in May\, the town swells to an estimated 25\,000 people for the festival. You can expect a grand reunion of thru-hikers past and present\, over a hundred vendors of handmade goods and some of the best outdoor gear in the industry\, a packed schedule of live music and events\, and a large crowd of trail supporters and hiking enthusiasts. \n​Trail Days is always the weekend after Mother’s Day. The Town-wide Yard Sale is always the weekend before Trail Days. Trail Days is free to attend\, with a fee for overnight camping at Tent City. \nVoted Best Unique Festival (Runner-Up) by readers of Blue Ridge Outdoors Magazine in 2026 and #3 Best Quirky Festival by readers of Blue Ridge Country Magazine in 2023
